The best Goblet Beer Glasses is part of our continuing series of up-to-the-minute glass reviews for our strong beers and ales. Our previous review article covered the best French wine glasses, you could buy for your hard-earned bucks.
We love the best goblet beer glasses! Whether you consider them tulip glasses, chalices or some variation on a theme, beer goblets fill a certain niche in your drinking pleasure. It’s all down to their shape. The wide mouth preserves the beer’s head, allowing aromas and flavors to develop. The best beer goblets also have etching inside the vessel to attract carbon dioxide, ensuring you get steady streams of bubbles to help maintain that ideal head.
These beer goblets are perfect for your stronger beverages, think high ABV (alcohol by volume) or high gravity because they allow you to take long, slow sips letting the experience evolve on your palate. So the next time you fancy German bocks, Belgian IPAs, and Scottish ales reach for your goblet beer glass!
Choosing the best goblet beer glasses
In our selection of beer goblets, we’ve chosen our favorites from a range of fine glass manufacturers from around the world. We’re sure that whichever you choose to add to your glassware you’ll be happy with your purchase.
Libbey Craft Beer Goblets (set of 4)
Our first pick are the excellent Libbey Craft Beer goblets. These are the archetypal beer goblet glasses, perfect in shape and function. In this set you get four Belgian ale beer glasses with a 16 oz capacity. In the hand they have a good heft and the glass is really clear even though it’s lead-free. The stem is reassuringly thick which prevents warmth from your hand spoiling the flavor. We’ve found that the narrow top holds the aroma well and helps focus it to your nose when you take a sip. The Libbey goblets are one of our ‘go-to’ glasses when demonstrating what makes a fantastic beer goblet.
These are imported direct from Europe, Portugal to be exact. You can put these robust glasses through a dishwasher although giving them a wipe with a cloth afterwards is good advice to keep your goblets streak free. They measure just under 8” tall with a diameter of 3.75”.

Spiegelau Barrel Aged Goblet Glass (set of 4)
European glass manufacturing has a long and illustrious heritage. Their products have a great reputation for exceptional clarity and quality which is why we recommend them so often. The Spiegelau glasses are made in Germany and are perfect examples of quality and value. Spiegelau have spent two years creating this design that succeeds in giving you the best experience for barrel-aged beers. If you’ve never tried a barrel-aged beer then it’s time to expand your palate – these beers are typically aged in whisky barrels for a short period so the beer absorbs tannins and lactones that add that extra flavor and aroma.
These glasses are made of a non-leaded crystal that combines natural minerals to preserve an impressive clarity and strength. In fact, it makes them dishwasher-safe and impressively resilient when compared to inferior brands.
Their capacity is 17.7 oz and measure nearly 8” in height. In the hand they have a good heft and easily earn their place on our best beer goblets choices.

Luminarc Craft Brew Belgian Stemmed Goblet Beer Glass (set of 4)
Back in the States, however, Luminarc give Europe a run for its money with their high quality Belgian-style stemmed craft beer glasses. In this set you get four robust glasses with a 16 oz capacity. These are rated as dishwasher safe and certainly feel substantial enough to survive easily.
We recommend this classic design for high gravity beers as they focus the flavors and aromas each time you take a sip. On test, we found that these tulip-shaped glasses preserve the head well which looks great and ensures your enhanced enjoyment compared to poorer glasses.

Luigi Bormioli Michelangelo Masterpiece (set of 4)
Using lead-free crystal glass, the ever-popular Luigi Bormioli collection is imported directly from Italy. These are from the Michelangelo Masterpiece range and have outstanding clarity and class. Their delicate appearance belies their rating for being dishwasher safe and we’ve found that they look fantastic after a cycle. Just give them a quick polish with a cloth for that extra sparkle.
For your money you get a set of four 19.25 oz glasses whose finish is spectacular: no rough edges, just perfect, smooth curves. They are 8” in height.

Riedel Ouverture Goblet Beer Glasses (set of 2)
When we think of the best beer goblets we have to check out the offerings from Riedel, their ranges are always high on our go-to list. With over 300 years of glass and crystal making history their reputation is known worldwide. The Ouverture Beer glasses are a tulip-shape design and maintains a good head and a funnel of aromas. These glasses hold a whole pint of beer which is pretty handy in our view.
Size-wise, these measure 2.25” at the mouth, 3” at their widest part and are 7.25” tall. They are dishwasher-safe and have a fraction thicker glass than their more delicate Riedel Vinum counterparts. This isn’t to say they are in any way chunky, the Ouvertures are still elegant but whose feel gives you confidence in placing them in your dishwasher.

Bavel Belgian Goblet Beer Glasses (Set of 2)
The archetypal thistle design is brought to life by Bavel. The wide mouth allows you to sup a little of the foam and a little beer to experience a lengthier tasting. The flavors linger on the tongue so you can distinguish each note. Bavel’s goblet is sturdy with a good stem and reinforced rim but it never looks unwieldy or unpleasing.
These thistle goblets are recommended particularly for your strong ales and beers: Belgian, Flanders, Trappist and similar where a plain glass wouldn’t do their qualities justice. Bavel’s glassware is remarkably clear and a joy to drink from. Their capacity is 13 oz, their height is a fraction under 7” and their widest part is just a little over 3”.
